Most adults enjoy ringing in the New Year with parties, fun and games, and the kids normally get stuck with a babysitter. But kids may enjoy a New Year's Eve party as well – even though they may not be able to stay awake until midnight.

We’ve listed some ways to incorporate fun for children in the New Year's celebration:

  • Stock up on party hats, whistles, streamers, and balloons. Let the kids decorate the house.
  • Play games like Charades, Twister and board games.
  • Camp out in your family room and discuss the year gone by.
  • Make individual pizzas.
  • Create a "Time Capsule." Fill a container with pictures and comments about current events and your family, and then bury it in the back yard.

One of our Momtopia readers wrote… "We are planning to watch holiday movies, eat pizza and popcorn and try to stay up for the big count down. We plan to watch the ball drop while drinking white sparkling grape juice." Columbus, OH ~
